Section Contract Rules - Locations

Understand how the locations screen at Section is used to assess whether contractual location restrictions have been adhered to

The Locations tab at Section level enables you to capture the contractual location restrictions of the Section. These are then assessed by Tide after a Risk Bordereaux reaches the status of Approved, and generates Breach records if any restrictions have not been adhered to.

Select location restrictions

To amend the restrictions, use the 3 ellipses to select Edit. This switches the screen to edit mode. Once in edit mode, you can select the territories that are permissible for the Section.

You can select territories in three categories:

  • Risk Located
  • Insured Domiciled
  • Territorial Limits

At the top level you can view Country Grouping, and you can select the arrow on the left to open up the Country Grouping to view countries, and you can select the arrow to the left of a country to view country sub-divisions (e.g. states of the United States).

You can either select specific countries or country sub-divisions, or select a continent or country, which will then automatically select all those beneath it (you can then de-select specific countries or sub-divisions as required). If the selections do not relate to all three territory categories (Risk Located, Insured Domiciled, Territorial Limits), then you can select the tick box in the relevant category column at the appropriate level (e.g. select Risk Located column for Canada).

The country sub-divisions included are for the following countries

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • Switzerland

You may also copy the selections made in another Locations tab of another Section by selecting the ‘Copy from Section…’ options which are below Edit after selecting the 3 ellipses.

Assessment of Breaches

Once a Risk Bordereaux reaches the status of Approved, then Tide will assess Risks Located and Insured Domiciled:

  • Whether the Risk Country or Risk State (country sub-division) is ticked as permissible in the Risk Located column of the Section of the Risk. If either field is not populated, then Tide will not assess at the relevant level.
  • Whether the Insured Country or Insured State (country sub-division) is ticked as permissible in the Insured Located column of the Section of the Risk. If either field is not populated, then Tide will not assess at the relevant level.

If not, then Tide will generate an individual Breach ‍record.
