Identifying Sheet(s) in a Bordereau

Understand how Tide identifies sheets during processing

Tide can process data from one or many sheets within a Bordereau spreadsheet file. Which sheets are processed is based on the answers given in step 3 of the relevant Questionnaire.

Select sheet for answering Questionnaire

You must first select the sheet from the Bordereau that is used to complete the Questionnaire. If there are multiple sheets that contain data for processing, then simply select one of the sheets. This answer does not define which sheet is used during processing.

Select rule for identifying sheets during processing

You then can define the rule for identifying the correct sheet(s) during processing. There are a variety of options, including 'All Sheets', the 'First Sheet', or text based rules such as 'The only sheet that equals specific text'. If you select a text based rule, then you will be asked to enter the relevant text.

If a rule is set that includes more than one sheet, then each sheet will be processed in turn, and any issues in identifying the header columns will specify the sheet this relates to.

Reassessing the Sheet Structure

You may also reassess the sheet structure and selection rules of a Questionnaire using a new Bordereau, this removes the need to create a new Questionnaire when sheet structure in a Bordereau is updated.

By selecting the Reassess Sheet or Copy Questionnaire button in Step 3 and choosing the Bordereau file you wish to upload, Tide will analyse the new sheet and column headers present and will remove columns from the Questionnaire that are no longer present and add new columns as available for use.

Selecting Headers after Sheet Reassessment

When reassessing the Bordereau sheet used in a Questionnaire, you must upload the Bordereau file you wish to use by selecting the Reassess Sheet or Copy Questionnaire button in Step 3. Once the new Bordereau has been uploaded, the modal will present the same questions as present in Sheet & Header step. Once complete, you can update the Questionnaire mappings using the columns present in the new Bordereau/header.

If a column was used previously, but is not in the new header, then it will be removed and will not be available for assignment to questions/Tide fields. This may mean questions are unanswered. In the case of mandatory Tide fields, a new column must be mapped before the Questionnaire can be saved. Similarly, sheet reassessment may have introduced new columns in the header. These new columns will be available for mapping in the Questionnaire.
