Data Validation - Financial Data Types

Understand how financial Data Type values are validated in Tide

One of the core Data Validation checks in Tide is ensuring that all values are of the correct Data Types. For example, that a Date is a Date, and a Financial value is a Financial value.

Financial fields first have any ISO currency symbols (e.g. $ or £) or codes (e.g. USD or GBP) removed as an automatic core enrichment step.

Tide then checks whether there are any text characters remaining. If there are then an error screen is raised.

In this error screen, there is a grid containing the Original Value, the Corrected Value, and a count of the Original Value in the Bordereau. You may sort, filter, select the number of items displayed and navigate between pages in error screens.

If another User of Tide (across all companies) has corrected this Original Value, the Tide will present the most frequently entered corrected value. So, for example, if 5 other Users had corrected '10million' to 10,000,000, then Tide would present 10,000,000 in the Correct Value field. If you do not believe this is appropriate, then you can change to the appropriate Corrected Value.

When you select to Continue and save your corrections, then Tide remembers your corrections in the same manner as Reference Data: the mapping from Original to Corrected value is remembered, and automatically applied the next time someone from your Company has the same Original Value when completing Transformation. As with Reference Data, Company Admin users of your Company can manage these value mappings - visit the Managing your Companies Reference Data Mappings‍ to learn more.

Financial values in Tide are held to 5 decimal places and are presented on-screen to 2 decimal places.
